Virginia Ann Conyers Peek, 85, was born the first of 5 children in Annona, TX, on January 12, 1939. She passed away peacefully at home in Richardson, on August 8, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Conyers (Hickey and Robbie), her brother, Jerry Conyers and wife, Lynn, brother, Charles Conyers and wife, Phyllis and youngest sister, Brenda Conyers.
Ginger, as her friends outside of the Clarksville area called her, is survived by her only child, daughter, Liz Press and husband, David, grandson, Nicholas Kagen and wife, Tally, their children, Kinsley (3) and Matson (1), grandson, Alex Kagen and wife ,Audra, sister, Genetta McGregor, her husband, W.C. (Dub), beloved nephew and nieces: nephew, Craig McGregor, wife, Sandy, daughter, Erin Moody, her husband, Forrest and children, Amelia (3) and Cole(2); niece, Jana Cerra, husband, Fernando and daughter, Madison (20), and Cindy Conyers Knight, husband, Larry, and sons, Sam (20) and Will (16) .
Virginia/Ginger graduated from Annona High School as the Salutatorian of her class in 1957. She worked a few clerical jobs in Clarksville and Dallas before starting her employment with Sears, Roebuck and Co. Ginger worked in the Dallas offices of Sears until 1979, when she moved to Chicago to work in the Sears Tower for the National Press Secretary of Sears where she was responsible for working with Sears executives to create and distribute all press releases for the company.
As a lover of numerous sports (both playing and watching them) after retiring Ginger spent a year in England where she was able to enjoy attending Wimbledon for their annual tennis tournament. When she returned to the States, she spent time traveling between Chicago and Arizona to watch the Cubs Training Camp and Grand Prairie, which was centrally located for her to visit he family that all lived in Texas.
Funeral services are set for 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 17, 2024, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Pritchett officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends an hour before service time at Clarksville Funeral Home.
