Virginia Humphries, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on October 14, 2020, at the age of 99. She is preceded in death by her husband, David (Buddy) Humphries, son, David Humphries, and brother, A.N. Norman Jr. Virginia is survived by her daughter, Denise Clubb, and husband, Mike, of Dallas, Texas, and grandsons Mark Clubb and wife, Sarah, of Broomfield, Colorado, and Matt Clubb of Westminster, Colorado. She also has 5 great-grandchildren: Landon, Ryker, Wyatt, Grayson, and Everett Clubb and several nieces and nephews.
Born to Cornelia and Albert Norman on September 15, 1921, in Abilene, Texas, Virginia grew up in west Texas, mainly in Lubbock. She graduated from Lubbock High School at 16 and then attended John Tarleton Jr. College and Texas Tech, where she met her husband, Buddy. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend—always giving to others with a generous heart. She loved her travels with Buddy as he took a new job in later years as a testing engineer for gas pipelines across the country. As his confidant and ardent supporter, Virginia enjoyed making new friends wherever they lived.
In 1977 they moved to Boxelder, Texas, where Buddy was born, but a battle with cancer cut his life short and Virginia turned her energies toward her beloved grandsons living in Dallas. She could be spotted at many of their sports events and school programs and was their number one fan. In her later years, Virginia moved to Paris, Texas, and then eventually to Dallas.
A beautiful smile…a love for the Lord Jesus Christ…unconditional love for her family…Oh how we will miss her.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at the Boxelder Cemetery. Burial is under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
