Tim Somerville, age 70, of Detroit, passed away, Friday, September 22, 2023, at U. T. Tyler Hospital. Tim was born January 22, 1953, in Clarksville, the son of John W. and Connie Anderson Somerville. He was preceded in death by his father; and a nephew, Jeff Abernathy. Tim was a 1971 graduate of Clarksville High School. During his high school days, Tim was the D.J. for the local radio station, KCAR in Clarksville. He also played the guitar for several local bands. Soon after he joined the U.S. Navy and served in Vietnam. He worked for many years and retired from Berkel and Company that took him all over the United States. Tim loved his family and they all looked forward to traveling on summer vacations. He and his family also raised Polled Hereford Cattle on the family land. Tim was a member of the Detroit United Methodist Church. He married Marcelle Abernathy on January 2, 1981, in Levenworth, Kansas.
Graveside services are set for 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Catonville Cemetery in Red River County. Rev. Karl Bush and Rev. Luanne Sparks will officiate. Burial will follow under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Rickey Vickers, Mickey Vickers, Roy Lynn Parker, Buddy Abernathy, Bubba Abernathy and Aaron Parker.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Clarksville Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Marcelle Somerville of Detroit; mother, Connie Somerville of Clarksville; three daughters, Robbie Lynne Todd and husband, Jeremy of Bogata, Lisa Somerville of Detroit and Dori Logsdon and husband, Casey of Bagwell; one sister, Pam Pellett of Bagwell; grandchildren, Jason Todd, Jacob Todd, Isaac Ibarra, Will Logsdon and Patrick Logsdon. Numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends also survive.
