Steven Paul Smith

Steven Paul Smith was born November 4, 1963, in Lufkin, Texas.  Steven walked into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 27, 2024, at the age of 60.  Steven was preceded in death by his father Jimmy L. Smith, grandparents Edwin Paul Shirey, Dorthy Shirey Branum, Jimmie Louise Storey and Nephew Blake Newsom.   

Steven is survived by his mother and stepfather, Paula and TJ Higgins of Clarksville, Texas; sister Kathy DeBurro and husband John of Montgomery, Texas; brother Doug Smith and wife Ann of Clarksville, Texas. Uncles Jim Shirey and wife Daryl Ann of Kountze, Texas; Philip Shirey and wife Kitty of Houston, Texas. Aunt Claudia Clark and David of Van, Texas. Nieces Whitney (Billy) Hensley; Courtney (Luis) Bartolomei; Bailey Smith and nephew Bryson (Anny) Smith, six great nieces and nephews and numerous cousins and friends.

Steven attended school in Clarksville and graduated from Clarksville High School in 1983. Steven never met a stranger and loved to talk to family and friends. Steven was an avid lover of sports, especially the Texas Longhorns, Dallas Cowboys, and the Boston Red Sox. If you needed to know any information about any of his favorite sports teams, he could give it to you, from current and the way back to the 1970’s. Steven was also a lover of music and could name you about any song, band and year it came out. Steven accepted Christ at an early age in Palestine, Texas and was currently a member of Cuthand Church. Steven will be missed by everyone that knew him, no matter the situation Steven would always leave everyone that he touched with a smile on their face. He was the type of person that anyone would be proud to call him Son, Brother, Uncle or Friend.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Brother John Purviance officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Clarksville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at Clarksville Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jason Petty, Justin Bishop, Derek Jones, Heath Harvey, Vic Bishop and Steve Bishop.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Shirey, Philip Shirey, Damon Smith, Russell DuBose, Bryson Smith, Chris Shirey and Paul Shirey.
