Sandra Kay Thornton Benson, age 75, of Clarksville, passed away, Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Brentwood Terrace Healthcare Center. She was born, November 19, 1945, in Deport to Bill and Myrtis Shows Thornton. Her parents; and a sister, Billie Jo Hancock preceded her in death. Sandra was a 1964 graduate of Bogata High School and later Paris Business College. She was employed with the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 1965 until 1971 and later worked at the Clarksville Independent School District from 1997 and retired in 2013. Sandra was a natural interior designer, loved her family and a member of the First Baptist Church in Bogata.
Graveside services are set for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 17, 2021, under the pavilion at Bogata Cemetery with Wade White officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Clarksville Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Jackie Gray, Johnny Hudson, Bill Bryson, Scott Bryson, Scott King, Carter Kelsey, Stanley Benson and Cole Sheffield.
Honorary Pallbearers are Donnie Smith, Ike Roach, Jason McFatridge and Tee Green.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Duane Benson of Clarksville; son, Jayson Benson and Shannon of Bogata; daughter, Kimberly McFatridge and Jason of Paris; sister, Shirley Smith and Donnie of Bogata; brother, Bobby Thornton and Billie of Artesia, California; grandchildren, Cullen, Kylie, Kolton, Kaden, Ashleigh and Jacie; a great grandchild, Remington and nieces and nephews.
