Ruth Ann Edwards

Ruth Ann Phelps Edwards, age 81, of Avery, passed away, Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at a Gilmer, Texas nursing home.

Ruth was born January 18, 1942, in Red River County to James Henry and Murtie Velma Anderson Phelps.  Ruth was of the Baptist faith. She grew up in Avery and later moved to Gilmer.  Her husband John Edwards and her 5 siblings, James Earl Phelps, Murrel Ray Phelps, David Martin Phelps, Eva Lou Phelps and Henry Jr. Phelps “Whompi” preceded her in death.

Graveside services are set for 2:00 PM Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Savannah Cemetery with Rev. Ryan Youngblood officiating.

Survivors include her 2 children, Richard Edwards and Mary Ann Edwards- Van Huss; 4 grandchildren, SaVannah Paige Caton, Anna Jade Van Huss, Cherokee Blake Caton and Piper Van Huss 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
