Ruby Capps Obituary

Ruby Nell Bailey Capps, age, 91, of Clarksville, passed away, Monday, April 6, 2026.

Ruby was an inspirational woman. She was deeply loved by her family, friends and fellow business leaders. For 45 years she worked beside her husband, Gerald, in the Capps Insurance Agency. Single handedly she grafted over 70 or more pecan trees, which are still bearing pecans today. She loved playing golf with friends and family. Ruby bought the Bogata skating rink floor, sanded, stained it, and laid it in her home, alongside her son Aaron. She laid carpet, tile, raised quail, was an artist, made her fireplace mantel, soap and jelly. Ruby was still mowing her grass on her beloved Dixon zero turn mower at 88. There was not much this amazing lady could not do except lift a driveway with a crowbar, but it didn’t stop her from trying.

More than that however, Ruby was fun, kind, loving and generous.  She was a great mom for her four sons and joined them on many adventures.  She would box-slide, and pasture ski right alongside them. She was always ready to cook whatever the boys brought home, often cooking breakfast on a riverbank while they fished.  She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren so very much and was the tea party and coloring queen.   Ruby made it a habit to give away her vehicles, sharing generously with her family, giving college money to grandchildren and great grandchildren, cancelling debts and more.  She was the most grateful, thankful person we know.  Ruby loved Jesus and knew she was heaven bound.  One of her biggest desires was that all her family be there with her for eternity.

She is survived by her sons, Kyle Capps and Dawn of Callisburg, Texas, Steve Capps and Judy of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Aaron Capps and Erin of Austin, Texas, and Brian Capps and Robyn of Bullard, Texas; two sisters, Betty Cunningham of Krum, Texas, and Lillie Ceballos of Sanger, Texas; Grandchildren, Kris, Laura, Lauren, Jessica, Amanda, Kelsey, Sam, Ruby, Sadie, and Katie; and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 10, 2026, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Bro. Daniel Souza officiating.  Burial will follow in Whiteman's Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
