Robert Patrick Smith, 29, passed away on February 12, 2023, after being struck by a drunk driver while riding his motorcycle. His memorial will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Hiett LyBrand Funeral home in Wills Point, TX.
Patrick touched the hearts of everyone who knew him and was well-known in the community for his kindness and generosity. He made those close to him believe in themselves and you couldn’t help but smile and laugh in his presence. His life truly impacted everyone, and we’re all left better for having known him.
Patrick was born in Dallas, TX on April 13, 1993, to Scott Smith and Trina (Donihoo) Smith. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend to all. Patrick enjoyed gaming with his good friend Victor, riding his motorcycle, fishing, grilling out, snowboarding, and taking care of his beloved German Shepherd Copper. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family, friends and was a cherished role model for his niece and nephews.
He was raised in Wills Point, TX by his parents and devoted grandparents and later settled in Quinlan, TX with his older brother and nephew. Patrick was a hardworking, self-employed welder and handyman who loved to build and fix things. He took pride in his work and would happily help anyone who needed him, no matter their circumstance.
He is survived by his father, Robert Smith of Clarksville; grandmother, Jan Smith of Clarksville; brother Brandon Donihoo of Quinlan; and sister, Kylee Gannon, and her husband, Ryan Gannon of Trenton; nephew, Braydon Donihoo of Quinlan; and niece and nephew, Everly and Tripp Gannon of Trenton; Aunts and uncles, Gary and Rachel Donihoo of Mckinney, Bruce and Melinda Whitten of Paris, Dan and Tammy Worstell of Williamsburg Virginia, Todd Smith of Clarksville, Nathan and Holly Robinson of Brashear; Cousins, Elizabeth and Gray Donihoo, Derek and Drew Worstell, Lacey and Garrett Whitten.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Trina Renée Smith; grandparents, Howard Bruce and Patricia (Grady) Donihoo; and great grandmother, Edna Imogene Grady.
This loss is immeasurable, but so is the love and light that Patrick left behind in all of us.
