Dr. Robert Randolph (Randy) Millikan, age 73, of Austin, Texas passed away July 10, 2023. He was born March 18, 1950, in Dallas, Texas to Inis Rea and Sam Millikan, who both preceded him in death. He was raised in Houston, Texas and graduated from Westbury High School.
Randy then attended the University of Texas at Austin where he began a lifetime of bleeding burnt orange and met his wife, Bettie Edwards. In 1975, he graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and completed a Family Medicine Practice Residency at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin. Randy established his medical practice in Clarksville, Texas in 1978. While in Clarksville, he also served on the Clarksville ISD School Board, the Red River Valley Girl Scout Board of Directors, and coached his daughters’ softball teams. Randy retired to Austin, where he was a fixture at his grandsons’ various activities. He was their biggest, proudest, and loudest fan. He was a man with many varied interests, including attending college sporting events, floating the Comal River, and dancing at concerts. He was also an avid restaurant foodie who loved to try new places, and to those who loved him most he was the biggest helper when needed. Randy truly was a wonderful role model, husband, father, and “Da” who was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Bettie of Austin; his daughters, Janice and husband Jeff of Tyler, Laura of Dallas, Emilie and husband Ray of Austin, his son James of Austin; and his sister Pam of Kyle. He was blessed to be the Da of Luke and Mark, who were the light of his life.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be sent to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation at 2914 Swiss Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75204 or tpwd.texas.gov/helpparks.
