Phillis Hastings Townes, age 75, of Detroit, passed away, Saturday, March 8, 2025, at her residence. Phillis was born September 14, 1949, in Clarksville to Coy and Juanita Lee Hastings. She married Larry Townes August 11, 1967, in Bagwell. She was preceded in death by her son, Glenn Townes, her parents and a sister-in-law, Marion Hastings.
Phillis was a businesswoman who was instrumental in the startup of Townes Telecommunications and also owned Henry's Produce in Clarksville. She was a homemaker who enjoyed traveling, with Germany being one of her favorite destinations. She loved her family and friends deeply. Phillis was a very spiritual lady who loved the Lord. Her generous heart and admirable character left a lasting impact on everyone she met. Her memory will live on forever in the hearts of many.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Townes of Detroit, her daughter, Darla Townes Bridges of Detroit, three brothers, James Hastings and wife, Jan of Bodcaw, Arkansas, Ray Hastings of Detroit and Bobby Hastings and wife, Kim of Detroit, three grandsons, Walker Townes of Austin, Connor Bridges of Los Angeles, California and Dalton Buchhorn of Burnet and several nieces and nephews. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
Funeral services are set for 2:00 PM Friday, March 14, 2025, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Don Shovan and Rev. Karl Bush officiating. Burial will follow in Blanton Creek Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Connor Bridges, Walker Townes, Brandon Atwell, Alex Hastings, Colton Hastings, Dalton Buchhorn, Tony Barletti, Clint Hastings and Jesus Martinez.
Honorary Pallbearers are Ronnie Freeman, Steven Stringer and Roy "Bubba" Ervin.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until service time at Clarksville Funeral Home.
