Peggy Jackson Obituary

The family of Margaret Hughston Jackson (Peggy), beloved mom and sister, are saddened to announce her death on September 10, 2024.  Peggy was born April 30,1942 in Houston, Texas but grew up in Clarksville and graduated from Clarksville High School in 1960.  She played the flute in the band and was valedictorian of her class.  She then attended Paris Junior College where she was again the valedictorian, this time for the class of 1962.  More importantly, she met the love of her life, Carl Richard Jackson, and they married on April 16, 1962.  They moved from Paris to Dallas after a few years where she worked for New York Life in the accounting department until she retired in 2002.  On weekends, she would help Richard with his sports photography business, KidSport, and she was instrumental in keeping him organized.

Even though she lived in Dallas, she loved to return to Clarksville for many family events.  She loved to read, play games, and make lists (not necessarily in that order).  She loved Barbie and had quite a collection of dolls and ornaments.  She also loved to eat good food that she didn’t have to make herself and was always appreciative to be invited to dinner whether it was at someone’s house or a restaurant.  She came from baseball royalty via her grandfather Clyde Milan, a professional player and coach/manager with the Washington Senators.  She didn’t play any sports herself, but never missed a soccer or softball game for her Granddaughter, Kathy.

She is survived by her brother, Milan Hughston (Dennis), daughter Marcie Jackson Kolb (Perry), son John Marc Jackson (Vicky), granddaughters Kathy Kolb and Alica Giroux, and great grandchildren Julyanna, Hope and Liam Giroux.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Jackson, her sister Susan Hughston, and her parents Tommy Ross and Eugenia Milan Hughston.

She was a little shy, but she had a reputation for being very sweet, always smiling, and super smart.  She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
