Mildred Geraldine McCoy, 98, of Plano, joined her husband in Heaven as she passed away peacefully in the presence of her children on Thursday, June 17th 2021. She was born Sept 12, 1922, in Clarksville. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband John Douglas McCoy, her parents Ivan and Myrtle Igo, brother Jay Igo, and sister Doris married to James “Happy” Wright.
Mildred was a 1939 graduate of Clarksville High School where she met Doug, the love of her life. She attended Paris Jr. College for 2 years and taught school in a one room school house during World War II. Mildred patiently waited for the war to end and for Doug to return home. Upon his return, Mildred and John Douglas McCoy were married and began their lives together in July of 1945. They had 3 beautiful children together and it was her greatest joy being their mother. She was a homemaker and was very active in the church. She enjoyed time with family, cooking, gardening, reading, camping, and playing bridge with friends. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Mildred is survived by her daughter Jane McCoy of Plano, her daughter and son-in-law Mary and Gerald Rushing of Rowlett, and her son and daughter-in-law Steve and Lorraine McCoy of Houston. Her grandchildren Mark (Megan)Town, Julie (Bryan) Jennings, Deanna (Jeremy) Civello, Matthew (Amber) McCoy, Megan (Craig) Patrick, Russell (Megan) Pardue, Kenneth (Carla) Pardue. Her great grandchildren Miranda (16) Ian (15) John(16) Alyssa (13) Luke (8) Emma(11) Olivia(9) Colin(6) Blake(3) Ronin(1) Evelyn(3) Hollis(1) Brooks(2) Grace (1mo.)
The family would like to thank her loving caregiver, Pat Noguera. The compassion, love, and care that was provided to Mildred and the family will never be forgotten.
Funeral services are set for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2021, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Jim Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Madras Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends an hour before service time at Clarksville Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Heart Association.
