Mikel Taylor Loftin

Mikel Taylor “Mikey” Loftin, age 26, of Bogata passed away, Thursday, September 17, 2020, near Bogata.  Mikey was born, January 14, 1994, in Cleveland, Tennessee to Cecil Glen and Carrie Jane Duggan Loftin.  He was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Bernice Loftin; grandfather, Tim Stricklin; and a great great aunt, Cora Tidwell. 

Mikel was a heavy equipment operator for Stephenson Dirt Contractors in Mt. Vernon.  He graduated from Rivercrest High School in 2014 and was in the Rivercrest Band for 7 years.  Mikel loved music and was an accomplished Saxophonist and Guitarist.  Mikel was a member of the Rivercrest FFA and an Eagle Scout. He was a proud new member of the Rosalie Lodge #527 AF&AM.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at The First Baptist Church of Bogata from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at The First Baptist Church of Bogata with Rev. Jeff Duvall and Cory Elliott officiating. Rosalie Lodge #527 will conduct Masonic Funeral Rites.  Burial will follow in Bogata Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. 

Pallbearers are Kenneth Kelley, Brett Jones, Dustin San Jule, Mike Fields, Colton Weatherall and Shorty Cruise.

Survivors include his parents, Cecil Glen and Carrie Jane Duggan Loftin of Bogata; his grandparents, Cecil and Laurie Loftin of Athens, Jim and Martha Duggan of Charleston, Tennessee and Effie Stricklin of Cleveland, Tennessee; 2 brothers, Jay Loftin and girlfriend, Whitney McNeil of Bogata and Timothy Loftin of Bogata; his nephew, Levi Wittebort; 2 aunts, Robin Landress and husband, Eric and Jamie Duggan of Cleveland, Tennessee; 4 uncles, Josh Stephens and wife, Regina of Alto, Georgia, Daniel Loftin of Cleveland, Tennessee, Scott Duggan of Charleston, Tennessee, Jody Duggan and wife, Mitzi of Cleveland, Tennessee and numerous cousins.
