Marvin Burkett of Avery passed away, Monday, June 27, 2022, at his residence. He was born April 3, 1937, to H.W. and Clara Campbell Burkett in O'Donnell, Texas. Mr. Burkett worked cattle on his ranch and loved his family and grandchildren. He was a former President and Vice President of the International Guard Union of America for many years. Mr. Burkett was a Mason at Avery Lodge # 921, A.F. & A.M for over 50 years. He retired from Day and Zimmerman as a security guard after 47 years. Marvin was a member of the Avery United Methodist Church. He was a great provider for his family. His parents and brother; Carlton “Cobb” Burkett preceded him death.
Survivors include his wife; Frances Ann Burkett; 2 sons, Terry Burkett and wife, Melissa and Stacey Burkett and wife, Tara; 1 daughter, Kathy Burkett Castaneda and husband, Eddy all of Avery, grandchildren; John Thornsberry and wife, Courtney, Wade Burkett and wife, Lauren, Jake Burkett and wife, Lauren, Julianna Burkett, Garrett Burkett and Kristin Burkett; 1 sister- in -law, Venda Burkett of DeKalb and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services are 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 29, 2022, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Cloyd officiating. Burial will follow at English Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends one hour before service at Clarksville Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Garrett Burkett, Julianna Burkett, John Thornsberry, Wade Burkett, Jacob Burkett, Kristin Burkett and Eddy Castaneda.
Honorary pallbearers are Duel Grigg, Trent Kelsoe, Jo Ross Miller, Edwin Kelsoe, Alan Burkett and Stanley Hawkins.
