Luann Cook “Luie” Banker died on March 10, 2026, following a brief battle with cancer. She was 67 years old.
Luann was born on January 19, 1959, to Charles Robert Cook II and Thelma May Cook. She was a graduate of Clarksville High School. She worked many jobs throughout her life including working for Fina Oil and Gas in Dallas and Clarksville ISD as substitute teacher.
She is preceded in death by her husband Samuel Bryan Banker, brother Charles Robert Cook III, her parents and aunt.
Luie met her husband Sam in Dallas and they stayed together for 30 years, raising two children together in Clarksville. She was a pillar of uncompromising strength for her family, supporting her children and acting as full-time caretaker for Sam in the final years of his life. She supported her children throughout their careers and journeys and helped take care of her beloved grandchildren who inexplicably called her “Chicken.”
She taught her family the values of resourcefulness, compassion, skepticism, distrust of authority and perhaps most importantly: that no one can harm you without your consent.
Her death leaves a gulf in the hearts of all who knew her that can never mend, but her family and friends will take her memory and values bravely into the future. Her heart and strength live on in those she loved.
Luie wanted to be remembered with the Beatles lyric “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.”
Survivors include her son Philip and wife Liesl of Orchard Park, New York; daughter Sara and husband Brady of Clarksville, nephew Charles Robert Cook IV of Fort Worth; granddaughter Vivienne and grandson Dylan, both of Clarksville.
Cremation services will be handled by Clarksville Funeral Home.
