Lou Grant Obituary

Louise Estelle Hutchison Grant was born on August 29,1944 to Thomas Setzer Hutchison and Mary Louise Ward Hutchison at the Clarksville Hospital. She passed peacefully on Sunday, September 11th, 2022 at Plano Medical City Hospital with her family by her side. Lou was a graduate of Clarksville High School Class of 1962. She married her high school sweetheart, Dickie William Grant on September 7, 1963, in the Little Chicago Community outside Clarksville. They moved to Lewisville shortly after and she worked for Sentry Insurance in Dallas. She and Dickie later opened the Lewisville Old Town Meat Market in May of 1977. Over 32 years, she worked diligently with Dickie (aka DG) to help raise so many young people that called the Market Family. Everyone who knew her affectionately called her “Lou Lou.” They retired in December of 2009 and moved back to Clarksville on the Grant Homeplace in the Cherry Community North of town. They celebrated 56 years of marriage prior to DG’s passing. Lou was proceeded in death by her husband, Dickie, her parents; and brother Tommy Hutchison.

She is survived by her daughter, Marsha Lynn Grant of Clarksville; her son, Neil Edward Grant of Dallas; and nieces, Debbie and David Barnett of Clarksville, Sharon Meredith and Annette Lukenbill of Beaumont and Tedra Jackson of Plano along with many great nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Judy Grant Davis and Bob of Lewisville.

Pallbearers for the service will be David (Barney) Barnett, Ross (Foot) Ritzel, Shane (Bones) Lewis, Jason (Jaybird) McNutt, Shane Parsons and Greg (Fish) Fisher.

The Honorable Tracy Williams will preside over graveside services, 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Stone’s Chapel Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will host a Celebratory Lunch at Marsha’s new Grant’s Bar-B-Que Restaurant North of Clarksville on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
