Karen Strain Whitaker of Bogata passed away peacefully at home on January 4, 2025. Karen was born March 14, 1949, in Clarksville, Texas to Gorden Moore and Doris Springer Strain.
Karen was an RN in the DFW area for many years before she and her husband retired back in Bogata to enjoy a quieter, slower-paced life. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening barefooted, watching the Dallas Cowboys, old western tv shows, and reading Louis L’Amour books and her bible. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her “punkin”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 48 years, James Lewis Whitaker, a great-grandson, Alexander James Whitaker, and a grandson, Robert James Collison. She is survived by Karen Kaye, Kyle, and Katherine Whitaker along with Sabra, Tracy, and Cody Betser.
Per Karen’s request, there will be no service at this time. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Bogata Cemetery Association 104 Mt. Vernon Rd, Bogata, TX 75417.
