Judith Stanley Obituary

Judy Marie Stanley was born on February 28, 1938, to Alexander (Alex) and Esty (Stiles) Hembree and passed away from this life on Saturday, August 24th, 2024, at her home in Midlothian.

Judy graduated from Jordan High in Long Beach, California and later married John Stanley on November 9, 1958, at the Avery Missionary Baptist Church.  They were blessed with 48 years together until the death of John October 18, 2006.

They were blessed with two sons, Johnny Lee of Midlothian and Jimmy Lyn of Holiday Island Arkansas.  Judy was asked what was one of her goals in life and her reply was to be a Good Mom.  If you ask either of her sons, they will say that she overachieved in her goal.

If you knew Judy at all, you knew how much she loved basketball.  Before her boys were old enough to play sports, her and John would travel to Avery High School Basketball games.  Once Johnny Lee started playing, they never missed a game.  Even after John had passed away, she would attend Midlothian Basketball games with Johnny Lee.  He would take her to Dallas Maverick games as well.  It never mattered if she knew anyone playing or not, she was always interested in watching a good basketball game.  Another of her interest was her cooking and that is where Jimmy and his mom really connected.  They spent so much time in the kitchen and up until her last days, they would talk on the phone about what he was cooking and asking her advice.

Judy and John volunteered at the Clarksville Nursing Center, always trying to put a smile on other’s faces when given the chance.  Up until her passing, she never complained and always greeted everyone with a smile and asked how she was feeling, her reply with that smile she always had said, I’m doing good!  Every night when she was being put in bed, she would always thank the Lord for another great day!

Judy is proceeded in death by her parents Alex and Esty Hembree, husband, John Stanley; brothers; John, Alvis, Otto, Ezekiel. Hembree; sisters; Edith Montgomery, Odessa Howard, Jackie James.

Judy is survived by her sons, Johnny Lee and Tawnya Stanley of Midlothian, Jimmy Lyn Stanley and Daniel Hageness of Holiday Island Arkansas.  Grandchildren, Jessica Stanley of Garland, Texas, Morgan Huffstutler and Taylor Huffstutler of Mansfield. Several nieces and nephews.
