Jo Ann Godwin

Jo Ann Godwin, age 86, of Avery, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Christus St. Michael Hospital.

Jo Ann was born August 5, 1939, in Boxelder, Texas, to Anderson and Marie Taylor Peek. She was a wonderful cook and an avid reader who enjoyed staying active and fit. Jo Ann loved shopping and took great joy in caring for her family. On February 19, 1960, she married the love of her life, Charles Godwin, and together they shared 65 years of marriage.  She was a member of the Avery Church of Christ. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Frank, Robert, Blaine, and Barry Peek.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Godwin of Avery; her son, Charles Alan Godwin of Nacogdoches, Texas; her daughter, Gena Moore and husband, Andy, of River Oaks, Texas; her sister, Janice Martinez and husband, Tony, of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Carl Peek and wife, Carolyn, of Paris, and Martin Peek and wife, Judy, of Avery; her beloved dog, Max; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside memorial services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Savannah Cemetery, with Gerald Holder officiating. Services are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
