Jo Boggess Obituary

Mary Joan "Jo" Crist Boggess, age 92, of Clarksville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Pine Tree Ranch assisted living. Marijo was born March 24, 1932, in Edinburg, Texas to Roscoe Crist and Ivy Fern Grindle. She was next to the youngest of five siblings. After graduating high school, Marijo went to work for the Telephone Company as an operator where she met Richard, who also worked for the phone company in the service department. They married and made their home in Clarksville in 1957, where they raised their 2 children John and Peggy. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, fishing, baking, painting and sitting on her porch with family and friends. She was a cherished member of the community and especially loved being with her family. Jo worked at Red Kap Industries as a supervisor for several years. She also loved to sew for people in the community. After Richard died in 1990, she opened a Sandwich Shop on the Square in Clarksville. She worked at the Clarksville Country Club for several years where she managed the Pro Shop and even began cooking meals for the members. She always loved golfing and interacting with the members. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband; her sister, Lillian May Lucas and 3 brothers, Bob Crist, Bill Crist and Bud Crist.

Survivors include her sister, Nancy Crist of San Antonio, TX; her son, Colonel John Vernon Boggess, USAF, Ret. and wife, Judy of Spring Branch, TX; daughter, Peggy Wood and husband, Philip of Dallas; 3 grandchildren, Cristi Houtman and husband, Jay Houtman of Southlake, TX, Stephanie Jones and husband, Ed Jones of Copperas Cove, TX and John David Boggess and wife, Ezinne Boggess of Bulverde, TX; 8 great grandchildren, Taylor Houtman, Eric Houtman, Whitney Houtman, Cheyanne Jones, Adelynn Jones, Matilda Boggess, Naomi Boggess and Obadiah Boggess and special friend, Don Pierce of Clarksville.

Private Graveside Services at Stones Chapel Cemetery with Aaron Vander Schaff officiating. Burial is under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
