Jerry Lee Steward

 Jerry Lee Steward passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Baylor Scott & White Heart Hospital in Plano.

He was born near Clarksville, Texas on May 19,1943, to Joseph Frederick and Hattie Aline Steward. He married Mary Alice Rose on August 3, 1963. He is survived by his wife and son, Brett Steward and wife, Sheri.  He has three grandchildren: Jeremy Steward and wife Brenna, Micaela Steward and Jared Steward.  He is also survived by a brother, Ralph Steward and wife Virginia, and a sister, Dianne Mowery and husband, Larry.  In addition, there are multiple nieces and nephews who cared about him deeply. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob Steward; and a sister, Peggy Summerlin. 

He graduated from Clarksville High School in 1961 and was the Class of ’61 president.  He worked in the plumbing supply, building supply and construction management business for many years. 

Jerry was a great husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was an active member and Elder in the New Shamrock and later First Presbyterian Church of Clarksville.   He was a 50-year Master Mason and Scottish Rite Free Mason.  He had many friends and was also a great guy to have a conversation with.   He loved his family, but his favorite thing to do was work on the land in the Mabry Community where they built their house in 1972 and keeping it well-manicured.  His best days were spent doing something with his tractor.  He will be dearly missed!

Funeral Services are set for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville with Rev. Don Shovan officiating.  Burial will follow in New Shamrock Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends an hour before service time at the church.

The Pallbearers are Jeremy Steward, Jared Steward, John Price, Brian Williams, Cody Bachman and Sammy Gist.

Honorary Pallbearers are Charlie Clark, Greg Clark, Coy McGregor, Bruce Duncan, Larry Mowery, George Hobbs, Dustin Steward, James Bills, Larry Moore, Donnie Limbock, Mark Reed, Chad Robinson, Jimmy Carson, Jeff Nichols, Joel Summerlin and Bill Peek.
