James "Jim" Munday

James Walter “Jim” Munday, age 78, of Clarksville, passed away, Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Paris Regional Medical Center with pneumonia with his two boys by his side. He was born the son of Ross and Dolores Wright Munday on August 19, 1942, in Chuquicamata, Chile. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, ex-wife, Nancy L. Day and one of his faithful companion’s, Cookie.

Jim was raised in Fresno, California and married Nancy L. Day in 1962 but in 1976, moved and raised their family in Merced, California. He was a firefighter with CDF for several years. He then became an Electric contractor with his own company as well as farming and ranching.

Jim started his adult life in the U.S. Navy, becoming a First-Class Electrician.  He was a proud American Patriot and a 2nd Amendment proponent. Jim could not stand the politics in California and just over two years ago made his move to Clarksville. James fell in love with Texas and the friends he has made in Clarksville.   He had many passions in life, team roping, firearms, flying airplanes and Ham radio. He was a member of the “RR” Cowboy Church and enjoyed helping others in the Church and Community.  Jim also sang in the “RR” Cowboy Church Choir.

Survivors include his 2 sons, Bryan Munday of Merced, California and Jimmie Munday and wife, Jennifer of Friendsville, Tennessee; 1 brother, Doug Munday of Gig Harbor, Washington; 4 grandchildren, Jessica, Brianna, Justin and Jeremy; and his faithful companion, Buck.

Graveside services are set for Thursday, January 14, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Kye Rieff officiating.  Services are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Clarksville Funeral Home.
