Ida Jo Nicks

Ida Jo Nicks, age 83, of Avery, passed away, Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Wadley Hospital in Texarkana. Mrs. Nicks was retired from Day and Zimmerman and a long time member of the Avery Missionary Baptist Church. She was born in Bowie County, Texas on May 3, 1938, the daughter of John Milton and Bertie Ann Kruze McCommas. Her husband, George Nicks; a son- in- law, Wayne Jackson; and her brothers, Horace, Novray and Jake McCommas all preceded her in death.

Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 27, 2021, at the Avery Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Roddy Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Avery Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends an hour before service time at the church.

Pallbearers are Jason Lambert, Michael Downs, Glenn Woods, Scotty Rhea, Tilman Deaton and Sammy Lambert.

Honorary Pallbearers are Bud Calloway, Henry Freeman and James Kennedy.

Survivors include her son, Mark Nicks of Avery; her daughter, Pamela Nicks of Avery; her sisters, Alene Burnett of Texarkana and Juda Hillis of Maud and several nieces, nephews and other family members.
