Horace Robison, age 91, of Avery, passed away, Friday, February 25, 2022, at Clarksville Nursing Center. Mr. Robison was born July 9, 1930, in the West Bowie Community to Coy Nugent and Rozetta Northcutt Robison. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Longtime member and Usher at Avery Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Robison married Lawanda Harrison on October 27, 1956 and she preceded him in death on June 4, 2017. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Willard and Albert; and his sisters, Vernice Stevens and Viola Sturdivant. Horace enjoyed catfishing and camping and back in the day was an avid coon hunter. He retired from the Red River Army Depot and was a farmer and rancher. Mr. Robison raised chickens for Pilgrims for over 30 years, he loved his family and church family.
Funeral services are set for 2:00 PM Monday, February 28, 2022, at the Avery Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Roddy Jackson and Rev. Rick Gandy officiating. Burial will follow in Avery Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Walt Putteet, Payton Putteet, Bo Peek, Glen Woods, Tilman Deaton and Ray Shirley.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Clarksville Funeral Home.
Survivors include his daughters, Teresa Gandy and husband, Rick of Avery and Tammy Putteet and husband, Connie Mack of Avery; grandchildren, Brad Putteet and wife, Alisha of Avery, Stephanie Peek and husband, Bo of Omaha, Derrick Gandy of Avery, Walt Putteet and wife, Tishie of Avery and Dillon Gandy of Avery; great grandchildren, Payton, Kailey, Natalie, Brannon, Skyler and Jase and several nieces and nephews.
