Henry “Dan” Denton of Clarksville Texas passed away at the age of 90 on Monday April 4, 2022. Dan was born in San Antonio, TX on June 27, 1931 to Alvira Schwarz and was later adopted by Worley B. Denton.
Dan served honorably in The U.S. Army, The Texas National Guard, and The Reserves. For a number of years he was employed as superintendent for a company that imploded buildings. One such building in Denver, Colorado was made into a movie.
Dan met and married Neva Frances Dixon on July 3, 1980 and later moved to Clarksville, Texas in 1992. For over ten years he was a supervisor for the City of Clarksville. Dan was also a member of the Clarksville First Baptist Church.
Affectionately known as “GranDan” by his step-grandchildren, he enjoyed writing song lyrics, maintaining his yard, and shopping for collectibles with Frances.
Dan was preceded in death by his loving wife, Frances Denton, and two half-brothers, Ralph and Paul Conn. Surviving Dan are two daughters Brenda Sue Goodenough and husband Tim, of Benbrook, Texas; Jean Marie and husband Will Bond of Alvarado, Texas, two sons: Tony and Pam Denton of Granbury; and Eddie and Angi Denton of Ft. Worth, Texas. He is also survived by his stepson, Dr. Thomas R. Dixon and wife, Lelia, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren.
GranDan will be missed.
Memorial services are set for 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2022, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Gossett officiating.
