Harvey Lee Carter, age 89, of the English Community, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Harvey was born January 20, 1936, in Denton, Texas, to Harvey B. and Gladys Leverton Carter. He grew up in a loving home and was blessed to work alongside his father in their dairy and ranching business. Later, he worked for Acme Brick in Denton before retiring to his ranch in Clarksville, where he enjoyed spending his days doing what he loved alongside his son, Warren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Louise.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 68 years, Patsy Carter; his son, Billy Warren Carter and wife, Kathy of Clarksville; his daughters, Janis Welch and husband, Russell of Gladewater and Carol Mackey and husband, Kevin of Castle Rock, Colorado; eight grandchildren, Andrea Pool, Clint Welch, Michelle Fletcher, Carter Mackey, Caleb Mackey, Katie Mackey, Seth Mackey and Crystina Carter; and seven great-grandchildren, Henry Pool, Lillian Pool, Ryder Welch, Weston Welch, Rex Fletcher, Ashton Fletcher, and Haley Fletcher.
Harvey’s greatest joy was his family, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and faith.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Avery Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Avery Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Roddy Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at English Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers are: Russell Welch, Kevin Mackey, Jack Proffer, Clint Welch, Henry Pool and Seth Mackey.
