Harold Nevill, age 80, of Avery, passed away Monday, September 7, 2020, at his residence. Mr. Nevill was born September 1, 1940, in Avery to Earl Eugene and Hattie Lee Murphy Nevill. He was retired from the Red River Army Depot and enjoyed raising his cattle and riding horses. Harold was a former member of the Avery Independent School Board. He had a sweet tooth and his favorite was Blue Bell Ice Cream. Harold was a longtime member and Deacon at the Avery Missionary Baptist Church. His parents; and a infant brother, Joe Earl Nevill preceded him in death.
Funeral services are set for 11:00 AM, Friday, September 11, 2020, at the Avery Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Roddy Jackson and Gary VanDeaver officiating. Burial will follow in Avery Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Tilman Deaton, Mark Megason, Glen Woods, John Murphy, Blake Jackson and Terry Burkett.
Honorary Pallbearers are Alton Tutt, Dewayne Martin, Horace Robison, Lynn Holder and Kevin Downs.
The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Clarksville Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene Hewitt Nevill of Avery; 2 daughters, Pam VanDeaver and husband, Gary of New Boston and Sandra Proctor and husband, Cliff of Avery; sister, Fay Stringer and husband, Gary of Wake Village; grandchildren, Kacey Launius and husband, Ryan of League City, Katelyn VanDeaver of Pearland, Wade Burkett and wife, Lauren of El Dorado, Arkansas, Jake Burkett and Lauren Rogers of Avery; great grandchildren, Susanna and Clara Beth Launius and Carson Burkett; sister-in-law, Donna Box of Enid, Oklahoma.
