Guindal "Guin" Annell Wood Smith, age 75, of Bogata, passed away June 26, 2025, at her home with her daughter, Candy, at her side. Guindal was born August 15, 1949, at the Dow Hospital in Freeport, Texas to Norman C. and Wyoma Annell Singley Wood.
Guindal was raised in Brazoria County, Texas. Guin met Jimmy Don Smith, the love of her life on a blind date arranged by his cousin. They married in May 1967, and were married for 46 years when she lost Jimmy. She and Jimmy had two daughters, Tammie and Candace "Candy" that they raised in Lone Star Community, Texas. Following in her mother's footsteps, Guin received her LVN license from PJC and enjoyed a long career in Long Term Nursing. She and Jimmy lived in Red River County until 2000, when Jimmy retired and they decided to move to Brazoria County and enjoy fishing and shopping. In 2005, she became a very proud Granna to Weston Raulston, son of Tammie Smith-Raulston. Guin enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmother more than anything in life but she was also a business. Guin's parents started Sunset Nursing Home, Inc. in the 60s, which Guin later owned. She, Jimmy and the girls operated the facilities bringing both to a 5 star status before selling them after the death of Jimmy. She then turned her attention to being a grandmother and to shopping and gambling. She had many friends that she enjoyed trips and gatherings and she loved all of them. After losing Tammie, she moved back to Red River County and became a Mother again seeing Weston through High School. She lived a genuine life, living every moment she could. In early years it was many family gatherings on both sides of the family, school games, family trips and many good times visiting. in later years many trips with family and friends to beaches and casinos and visiting with patients and families and business functions. Throughout she put joy in all patients whether nursing or operating nursing homes and all that she met with her kindness and joy.
Guindal is preceded in life by her husband Jimmy, daughter Tammie Smith-Raulston, her parents Norman C and Wyoma Wood, step-father B.I. Williams, in-laws Frank and Margaret Smith, Sister-in-Law Martha Sue Woods, Brother-In-Law David Jones.
