Grant Allen Innes Sr. age 73, of Clarksville TX. left this world to be with his Heavenly Father on Dec. 16th, 2021. He was born April 22, 1948, and was raised in Kenosha, Wisconsin. In 1968 Grant enlisted in the Army and became a missile technician. He was in the Army for over 20 years and spent most of his time overseas. With a tour in Greece, and several tours in Germany. Grant retired from the Army in 1988 at Fort Bliss in El Paso TX.
In between tours when he was in El Paso, he got involved with jail ministry. It was during this time that he grew a passion for studying the Bible and gained preaching experience. Grant was ordained in 1988. He served as an interim pastor for two churches, one in El Paso and one in Germany. While serving in Germany, he was asked to preach and fill in for several missionary pastors throughout Germany. He was blessed to lead his daughter’s friend Dorothee to the Lord, whom Grant referred to as his German daughter and she has been part of his family for years.
After retiring from the Army Grant spent the next 30 years in El Paso. He went on to attend the University of Texas at El Paso, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. Grant was a computer instructor for several technical colleges and CompUSA. In 2014 he moved to Clarksville, TX with his wife, where they both retired. Shortly after moving to Clarksville, he joined the volunteer Fire Dept. and served for about 6 years, until his health started to fail.
Grant enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life. He enjoyed flying radio-controlled airplanes, building model trains and ham radio. He won many airplane radio-controlled trophies and awards, was asked to build a model train layout for a hobby shop in El Paso and once even contacted the space shuttle with his ham radio. Grant also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandchildren, but most of all he enjoyed studying and teaching the word of God
He is survived by his wife Bonnie of 52 yrs. His children JoAnne McCullough and husband Paul of Lewisville TX, Grant Innes Jr and wife Kathleen of Corinth TX, 3 grandchildren Savannah and Grant Innes III, and Matthew McCullough and two step grandchildren Megan and Michael McCullough.
He is also survived by his brothers Neil and wife Carol Innes of Kentucky, David Innes of California, John and wife Marylu Innes of Utah, and 1 sister Faye Petersen and husband David of Alabama, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all the caring staff at Chambers Hospice of Mt Pleasant and Texarkana. All the prayers and support from his church family and friends.
Funeral services are set for Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 2:00 pm in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. David Innes and Bro. Brandon Teague officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Dan Williams, Robert Sieber, Leo Deckelmann, Matthew McCullough, Grant Innes III and Brandon McKinney.
