Emmitt Gibson Obituary

Emmitt Euland Gibson, 84 of Annona, passed away peacefully at his residence, Saturday, July 16, 2022. He was born in Oklahoma to Walter and Mamie Gibson on November 12, 1937. Emmitt’s parents, wife of 31 years, Mary Ruth Gibson, sister, Louetta Fairless, brother, Allen Gibson, brother, Buddy Gibson and his son, D’Wayne Gibson all preceded him in death.

Emmitt, fondly known as Pappy or Pa Emmitt by his family had a love for timber and spent most of his life in the woods. He could always be found in jean overalls and boots. Emmitt’s grit and work ethic were second to none. His greatest blessing was his family. Emmitt’s love was felt through his strong hugs and gentle words. He took pride in caring and providing for the ones he loved.

Pa Emmitt enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with Eva at the lake. He leaves a legacy of love that will be felt by his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Nell Gibson of Annona, 3 sons, Ricky Gibson and wife Carolyn of Avery, Mike Gibson and wife Erica of Annona and Mark Dean and wife Tina of Russellville. 2 daughters, Debbie Pickle of Palestine and Tammie Stringer of Clarksville, 1 brother, Charles Gibson of Cookeville, grandchildren, Brandy Sparkman of Palestine, PJ Sparkman of Corsicana, Hollie Pickle of Tyler, Elizabeth Brown and husband Colten of DeKalb, Dustin Stringer and wife Ellie of Detroit, Hailey Jeffery and husband Tyler of Detroit, Wayland Gibson and wife Courtney of Avery, Sara Gibson of Ashdown, Dillon Dean of Russellville, Tanner Gibson of Annona and great grandchildren, Peyten, Taylor, Gracelynn, Bryce, Arbor, Maudie, Jayden, Addie, Emmitt, Grayson, Alex, Pake, Rip, Blayke

Funeral services are Monday, July 18, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Clarksville Funeral Home with Brandon Teague officiating. Burial will follow at the Garland Cemetery under the direction of the Clarksville Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends one hour before service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Tim Shimpock, Clancey Fairless, Donald (Twister) Sheppard, Chris Bergt, Cecil Fairless and Eddie (Stuntman) Black.

Honorary pallbearers are Clifford Fairless, Brandon Gray and Delbert Burris.
