Duel Grigg

Duel Grigg, age 92, of Avery, passed away, Sunday, February 16, 2025.  Mr. Grigg was born, October 8, 1932, in the Lydia Community of Red River County to Henry Benton and Ottolene Braden Grigg.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary Jane Grigg; a son, Benton Grigg; and a sister, Lottie Bertani.  Duel retired from the Lone Star Ammunition Plant, served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and longtime member of Avery Methodist Church. He was very active in the Avery Lodge #921 AF&AM, an avid gardener and enjoyed raising his cattle.

Survivors include his son, David Grigg and wife, Pam of Avery. He was very proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren; grandchildren, Ashley Calloway and husband, Riley of the English Community, Sara Camp and husband, Cody of Magnolia, Arkansas, Landon Grigg and Shelby Grigg both of Bentonville, Arkansas; great grandchildren, Fisher, Radley, Harley, Henry and Jonah.

Funeral services are set for 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 20, 2025, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Ryan Youngblood officiating. Avery Masonic lodge #921 will offer Masonic Rites.  The burial will be in Avery Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

The visitation will be an hour before service time at Clarksville Funeral Home.

The Pallbearers are Tim Downs, Toby Downs, Fisher Calloway, Radley Calloway, Mike Slagle and Mack Slagle.

Honorary Pallbearers are the men of Avery Lodge #921 AF&AM.
