It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Eugene Tyra, who left this world for his heavenly home on November 17, 2025 after a long battle with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
Doug was born in Lamesa, Texas, on May 6, 1964, to Aubie “Gene” Tyra and Annie “Arlene” Wilkerson. A devoted family man and a true patriot, Doug served his country in the United States Army as a mechanic, receiving numerous awards for his honorable service. He believed in hard work, loyalty, and was a wonderful husband, father, and friend to all who knew him.
Doug had a passion for life and cherished his interests in baseball, football, hunting, and the simple joy of spending time with his friends and family. He loved Jesus and was saved at an early age, remaining faithful to his God throughout his life. His loving and giving nature made the world a better place, and he will be profoundly missed by many.
Doug was preceded in death by his loving parents.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kristy; his two sons, Drew and Ian (Katy); his four grandchildren, Parker, Silas, Memphis, and Leo; his brothers Donald (Lora) and Derek (Barb); his sister, Darlene Eastin (Kevin); and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.
A celebration of life will be held for Doug Friday, November 21, 2025 at 9am at Divine Peace Church Rockwall, 305 S Fannin St, Rockwall, TX 75087.
