Dorothy Oletha Bain, 91, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love and kindness touched the lives of many.
Born on February 18, 1934, Dorothy was the daughter of Erbie George Aikin and Lilous Oletha Melton Aikin. She was a lifelong member of Avery United Methodist Church, where her faith and fellowship were an important part of her life.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, James B. Bain; her daughter, Deborah Lynn Rigney; her brothers, Erbie Jr. and JC Aikin; and her sisters, Bobbie Morgan and Floy Mae Webb.
She is survived by her son, James M. Bain and his wife, Chase Bain and cherished son-in-law, John Dickie Rigney. Dorothy’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Brian Rigney and wife Kalena, Kelli Molck and husband Andy, Lauren Strickland and husband, Adam, and Jamie Hodges and husband, Matthew. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Jarrett Rigney, Colton Crawford, Brooks Rigney, Karli Crawford, Abbey Rigney, Kennedy Strickland, Hanna Strickland and Maddie Strickland, as well as her bonus great-grandchildren, Drew Molck, Ashlee Molck, Wesley Helmer, and Barrett Helmer and other family and friends.
Dorothy’s warmth, strength, and unwavering love for her family will always be remembered. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and kindness that will live on through those who knew and loved her.
Graveside services are set for 2:00 PM, Sunday March 30, 2025, at the Avery Cemetery Pavillion, with Rev. Don Shovan officiating.
