Dale Gene Wells, was born August 21, 1957, to Richard Duane Wells and Arline Barbara ( Packett ) Wells in Apple Valley California and passed away on December 6th at his residence in Clarksville, Texas surrounded by his loving family and his beloved dog Mika Louise Wells ( aka Peanut ). He was a graduate of Copperas Cove High School and East Texas State University.
Dale retired from Home Depot after 25 years and became office manager of the Historic Red River County Chamber of Commerce until his health forced him to leave what he truly enjoyed.
Being in a military family, he has lived in many states and countries so baseball became his whole world. An injury prevented him from tryouts with a major league team, but played for the Dr. Pepper/7up Corporate Office baseball team. He loved the mountains, especially Red River New Mexico, so he, his wife, grandchildren and his beloved dog would spend 2 weeks every summer at his “home away from home”. He loved his Portuguese heritage, it was a huge part of who he was, and very proud to be related to and look like is Great, Great, Great Uncle John Philip Sousa.
His love of ancestry and genealogy began when he married into a Scottish family where he learned he was also Welsh. For 20+ years he and his wife volunteered to work the Clan Campbell tent at the Texas Scottish Festival and Highland games in Arlington, Texas where he proudly wore the family tartan for Clan Campbell.
He loved his dog Mika so much that she came 1st before anyone else. Mika was with him, brought him her toys and was licking his hand until he passed. They were inseparable
Dale was preceded in death by his mother Arline and his nephew Johnathan Dale Starkey.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years Lillian Ann ( Fuller ) Wells; his 2 daughters Joanne Parker ( husband Craig ) of Mesquite, Texas and Lisa Flores of Clarksville, Texas; 4 grandsons Hayden Paul Colbert ( wife Shelby ) of Clarksville, Texas and Dylan Scott Colbert ( wife Becky ) of Forney, Texas, Robert Joseph Flores of Powderly, Texas, and Timothy James Flores of Blodgett, Oregon; and 2 precious great granddaughters Scarlett Lee and Bonnie Anne to Dylan and Becky; 1 great grandson Trystyn James and 1 great granddaughter Emile Marie to Timothy.
