Charles Vaughan Gibbs, 80, of Annona, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024.
Born on September 26, 1944, in Marshall, Texas, Charles was the son of Chester Gibbs and
Beulah Wisdom. After losing his mother at a young age, Charles was raised at Buckner
Orphanage Home in Dallas, Texas.
A proud Vietnam War veteran, Charles served his country with honor and courage. Upon
returning to Texas, he built a career in the corrugated box industry, eventually founding his own
box manufacturing company. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish multiple businesses,
including ventures in manufacturing, feed and tack supply, and legal document processing.
Charles was a regular at livestock auctions, passing on to his children the art of "horse trading"
and earning an honest dollar. Charles found joy in life’s simple pleasures and the great outdoors.
From the moment his sons could climb into a deer stand, he introduced them to hunting and fishing. This passion for the
outdoors also continued with his grandchildren. In retirement, Charles enjoyed raising chickens,
sharing fresh eggs, planting trees, tending to his garden on his farm in Annona, and the
occasional trip to the casinos to try his luck at a slot machine. His garden was his pride and joy,
and he generously shared its bounty with friends and neighbors.
He is survived by his children, Brian Curtis Gibbs (Rainy), Eric Howard Gibbs (Ronni), and
Sherri Kay Stuart (Alton); his five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; his loving sisters,
Hattie Weaver and Sylvia Cantrell, and his cousin Lynda Eckman. Charles was preceded in
death by his siblings, David Gibbs and Jacquelyn Cantrell.
Those who knew Charles will cherish his legacy of tenacity, strength, and dedication to those he
loved. He could build anything with his own two hands and was always ready to help with a
project.

2573, Bagwell, Texas, on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 1:00 PM. The family invites friends and
