Carl E. “Sonny” Walston, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, of Clarksville, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020, at his residence. Sonny was 74 years young. He was born January 6, 1946 in Clarksville to Clifton and Nell Ruth Rainey Walston. His parents preceded him in death.
Sonny was a 1964 graduate of Clarksville High School. He attended college at Paris Junior College before going into the United States Army to serve his country in Vietnam. Sonny retired from Weyerhaeuser Paper Mill in 1998.
Before receiving a back injury, he was an avid outdoorsman. He loved everything recreational. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and just about anything that wasn't inside. Sonny grew up with most of his son's and his daughter's friends. While he enjoyed coaching everything sports wise, most of his players called him dad. Sonny was well known throughout the community.
Sonny was a great role model, father, father figure that anyone could look up to. He will be missed by everyone that knew him or came in contact with him.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 19, 2020, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. At Clarksville Funeral Home.
Memorial services are set for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Don Shovan officiating. Services are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Linda Holley Walston of Clarksville; his son, Christopher Todd Walston and wife, Christie of Reno; his daughter, Amy Walston Jetton and husband, Bart of Reno; 6 Grandchildren, Tyler Walston and wife, Kaci of Durant, Oklahoma, Ryan Tolison and fiance Sereenna Moody of Paris, Berkeley Jetton of Reno, Cailee Walston of Reno, Haley Perry and Hunter Perry and 3 great grandchildren, Theo Walston, Everly Tolison and James Madewell.
