Betty O'Neal

Betty Sue Boyd O’Neal entered her heavenly home on Friday, December 3, 2021. Betty was born, June 13, 1951, in Pascagoula, Mississippi to H.R. and Gladys Shafter Boyd. Following the early deaths of her parents, she had the privilege of being raised by her God chosen second mother, Ann Boyd. Betty graduated from Clarksville High School in 1969. She married J.L. O’Neal on May 30, 1969. She was a faithful member of the Annona First Baptist Church where she served as piano player and sunday school teacher for many years. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her second mother; sisters, Patsy Thorton and Deborah Pryor Grushka; and a brother, Michael Boyd.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, J.L. O’Neal of Annona; daughter, Jeanne Downs and husband, Michael of Annona; granddaughter, Brenna Williams and husband, Ethan of Annona; grandson, Jaston Brown of Annona; and a great granddaughter, Lyndi Jae Williams of Annona. She is also survived by siblings, Gerry Jones of Lucedale, Mississippi, Sandy Nichols and husband, Barry of Texarkana, Arkansas, Donnie Larkin of Visali, California, Johnny Boyd and wife, Pat of Clarksville, Tommy Pryor and wife, Belinda of Clarksville, Pam Mallory and husband, Mark of Mt. Pleasant and Rhoney Ray Boyd and wife, Candy of Midlothian; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 6, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Annona with Wade White and Rev. Jimmy Woodard officiating. Burial will follow in Boxelder Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

Visitation will be an hour before service time at the church.

Pallbearers are Heath Harvey, Tim Shimpock, Jay Smith, James Dean Floyd, Mark Megason and Kenny Backus.

Honorary Pallbearers are Leon Blake, Eddie Pryor, Glenn Evans, Frank English, Bob Pyeatt, Glenn Stewart, the late J.P. Harvey and the late Barry Peek.
