Betty Clarkson Findley, 76, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at her residence after a long illness with ALS. Betty was born on April 16, 1945, in Paris, the daughter of A.O and Viola (Long) Clarkson. She graduated from Blossom High School with the class of 1963.
She was married to Garry Lynn Findley for over fifty- four years. They have 3 children. Betty’s greatest joy in life was her family and loved to travel and visit their families across Texas. She had a passion for quilting and loved creating quilts that would be loved and cherished by those that used them. Sitting around with other quilters and swapping fabric and sharing stories filled her heart with joy. She loved when her grandchildren would spend their summers at her house swimming or exploring at the farm. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Garry and Betty lived in Pasadena, TX for 38 years before returning to the Clarksville area to enjoy their dream of living on a farm.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, James “Sonny” Clarkson. She is survived by her husband Garry Lynn Findley of Clarksville, TX, her two sons, Erick Findley and his wife Jennifer of Pipe Creek, TX, Lance Findley and his wife Kellie of Richmond, TX and daughter Jodie Findley Boutilier and her husband Mark of Flower Mound, TX. She also has five grandchildren Abbie and Paige of Flower Mound, TX, Kelan, Elijah and Raylee of Richmond, TX and two step granddaughters she considered her own, Hannah Rose and Claire Rose of Dallas, TX.
Betty’s surviving siblings are Louise Hamm of Jacksonville, FL, Dorothy Chambers of Plano, TX, Don Clarkson of Paris, TX, Leroy Clarkson and wife Glenda of Paris, TX, Francis Brewer of Blossom, TX, Patricia Spray and husband Gene of Blossom, TX, Wayne Clarkson of Emory, TX, and Katherine Scrivner and husband Carl of Clarksville, TX and sister-in-law Diane Clarkson of Bagwell, TX and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank Alice Perry and the staff of Heart-to-Heart Hospice and the many caregivers for their support and loving care of Betty throughout this difficult time.
A graveside service will be held at Springhill Cemetery in Novice, TX on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Paul Farmer officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00-12:30 with the service immediately following. Everyone is invited to gather at the Dimple Community Center at 3:30 pm for a meal graciously provided by the Women of Dimple. Arrangements are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
