Barbara Nell Carter, age 81, of Rice, passed away, Thursday, January 28, 2021, at her residence.
Barbara was born September 25, 1939, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Ruben and May Luther Weatherford. Barbara was a 1958 graduate of Galena Park High School where she played alto and tenor sax in the Galena Park Band of Gold. She also attended North Texas State University. She was of the Methodist faith and attended Avery United Methodist Church and Corsicana Methodist Church. Barbara enjoyed quilting, crocheting, ceramics, hallmark movies, eating out, shopping, bingo and the Cowboys. Barbara was a kind woman and her biggest accomplishment was raising her 4 children to be kind and loving Christians. Her parents and her brother, Wayland Lee preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends one hour before service time at Clarksville Funeral Home.
Funeral services are set for 2:00p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2021, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Don Shovan officiating. Burial will follow in Savannah Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers are: Jeff Knight, Steve Knight, Shane Burrow, Logan Rose, Thomas Rose and Cody Lindberg.
Survivors include her 2 daughters, Tammy Lindberg of Rice and Pam Lerman of Avery; her 2 sons, Steve Knight of Avery and Jeff Knight of Tennessee; her first husband, Herbert Knight; her sister, Charlotte Weatherford; 8 grandchildren, Shane, Holly, Logan, Thomas, Alex, Rachel, Savannah and Olivia and 8 great grandchildren, Cutter, Shyanne, Hannah, Decker, Cason, Skyla, Jaylin and Lexie Lee.
