Annette Cox Obituary

Vivian Annette Gipson Cox was born on June 27, 1943, in Tyler, Texas to Elmer Gordon Gipson and Vivian LaFaye Elliott who preceded her in death.  Annette died on November 21, 2023, in Italy, Texas at the age of 80.  Her 1943 birth and 2023 death will be etched on Annette’s headstone, but at this time of remembrance, we lovingly focus on the dash between those dates and the legacy she leaves behind.

Throughout her life, Annette lived with tremendous love, moments of joy, and great times with family and friends sharing laughter and making memories.  As in every life, there were also times of loss, disappointment, and heartache that she faced with strength and fortitude.  She was a strong, feisty lady who stood her ground regardless of the challenge, all 4 foot 11 of her.

Annette was the youngest of three children.  She grew up and attended schools in Corsicana, Texas.  She was raised in a household with two older brothers who survive her, Jimmy Gipson and his wife Joan along with Joel and his wife Janna.

At the age of nineteen, Annette married Eddie Bass.  Together they made a home and brought two sons into the world, Brian in 1962 and Barry in 1963.  In 1984, Annette and Eddie’s marriage ended.  Annette found love again when she met Willard Cox.  They were married on December 1, 1989, and together, they blended their families, welcomed grandchildren, attended church, and relished their farm life in Silver City, Texas, until Willard’s death in January of 2019.  They were happily married for almost 30 years.  Annette will be laid to rest next to her beloved Willard at the Avery Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 1:30PM on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Clarksville Funeral Home.

Graveside at 2:00PM on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Avery Cemetery with Rev. Ryan Youngblood officiating. Burial is in the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

To cherish her memory and continue her legacy, Annette leaves her two sons who love her dearly:  Brian Bass and Barry Bass.  Also surviving Annette are her daughter-in-law Julie Bass, Barry’s wife; and her grandchildren Bailey Bass, Jessica Harris, Janna Bass, and Julie Bass.  Annette cherished her grandchildren and was so proud to see them grow into beautiful adults who graduated from college and are now pursuing their ambitions in their work, families, and relationships.  Granddaughter Jessica and John Harris are the parents of Annette’s two great-granddaughters, Wrenlee and Bristol.

She loved her family without measure, and we will always miss her.

And this is the promise that He has promised us . . . eternal life.
