Amelia Eloise Douglas, affectionately known as “Nana,” passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, at Focused Care in Clarksville, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Petersburg, West Virginia, on August 6, 1934, Elouise lived a full and faithful life, just shy of her 91st birthday.
Eloise dedicated 25 years of service to the Red River General Hospital, where she cared deeply for her patients — not only tending to their physical needs but also to offer kindness and emotional support to those in her care. Her compassionate heart and gentle spirit touched many lives.
A devoted servant of her Lord and Savior, Eloise never hesitated to share the gospel. Her faith was unwavering and formed the foundation of how she lived her life — with love, generosity, and grace.
Eloise was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Olen Douglas; her parents, Paul and Elsie Mongold; and her sister, Charlette Pokorney.
She is survived by her son, Randall Douglas and wife Gina; her daughter, Beth Gentry and spouse Tim Gentry; and her daughter, Jennifer Galvin and spouse Mike Galvin. Elouise (Nana) was deeply loved by her grandchildren: Colby Latham, Hunter Latham, Meghan Hachicha and spouse Abdou, Michael Moore, and Nicholas Douglas. Her great-granddaughters, Louna Sghari and Aspen Latham, brought her great joy and pride. Elouise was also blessed with bonus grandchildren: Faith Cherry and spouse, Samuel Gentry, and step-grandson Wilder Cherry.
A celebration of Eloise’s life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 2, 2025, in the First Baptist Church in Clarksville. The Rev. Mark Gossett will officiate.
