Alma Jane Davis

Alma Jane Foxworthy Davis, age 86, of Avery, went home to her Lord and Savior on August 20, 2022. Mrs. Davis was born November 16, 1935, in Fortuna, Missouri to Ralph and Eleanor Palmer Foxworthy. She married Dewie James Davis on August 12, 1954, in Colorado Springs, Colorado and came to live in Texas. She retired after 26 years from Avery Independent School District, where she touched three generations of many families. Mrs. Davis is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years; grandson, Darren Wayne Cowley; great grandson, Walter DeWayne Cowley; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Leonard Fraizer; brothers, Russell Foxworthy and Frank Foxworthy. She loved crocheting and to share them with her family and community.

Survivors include two daughters, Theresa Pierce and husband, Rocky of Shreveport, Louisiana and Linda Cowley and husband, Charles Mosley of Avery; grandchildren, Jessica Pierce Williams and husband, Dennis of Shreveport, Louisiana and James Lloyd Cowley and wife, Lindsey of New Boston; great grandsons, Alexander “Lex” Williams of Shreveport, Louisiana, Anthony “Cole” Cowley and William Robert Cowley of Lufkin, Jedediah James Cowley and Wallace Elton Cowley of Longview; great granddaughters, Sylvia Kay Cowley of Lufkin, Brayli Roberson of Longview, Emma Manning and husband, Dylon of Fort Smith, Arkansas; great-great granddaughter, Kasper LaVonne “Kassy Manning of Fort Smith, Arkansas; sister, Mary Elizabeth Schoknetch of Yoder, Colorado; sister-in-law, Betty Sue Foxworthy of Talco and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services are set for 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 27, 2022, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Burkhalter officiating. Burial will follow in English Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Saturday at Clarksville Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Joey Berry, Donny Davis, Kenneth Henderson, Scotty Rhea, Ed Stephenson and Vernon Eastepp.
