Jerry Gray

Jerry Lee Gray, age 83, of Bogata, passed away, Friday, February 16, 2024, at Heritage House of Paris.  Mr. Gray was born, October 30, 1940, in Bogata to Jessie and Willie Mae Shows Gray.  He was a member of the Bogata First Baptist Church and retired from Babcock and Wilcox.  Mr. Gray was a former bus driver for Rivercrest schools, enjoyed fishing, camping and following his grandchildren’s school activities.  He served in the U.S. Navy as a photographer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gerlyn Lowe Gray; and a grandson, Hayden Holt.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 19, 2024, at the Bogata First Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Duvall and Rev. Mark Posey officiating.  Burial will follow in Bogata Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. 

The family will receive friends an hour before service time at the church. 

Pallbearers are Derek Cobb, Danny Hines, Harold Holt, Riley Reeder, Heath Holt and Gus Conway.

Honorary Pallbearers are Marty Gray and Jody Gray.

Survivors include three daughters, Jennifer Cobb and husband, Derek of McKinney, Jessica Hines and husband, Danny of Bogata and Judy Holt and husband, Harold of the Maple Community; one brother, Jackie Gray and wife, Linda of Bogata; grandchildren, Riley Reeder  and wife, Beatrice of McKinney, Marli Conway and husband, Gus of Bogata, Heather Shumake and husband, Bo of the Maple Community and Heath Holt and wife, Anna of the Maple Community; great grandchildren, Eli, Ashtyn, Korra, Kylin, Landon, Jeremiah, Addie and Montanna; and two nephews, Marty Gray and Jody Gray.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Rivercrest Education Foundation, 4100 Hwy. 271, S. Bogata, Texas 75417 or the Bogata Cemetery, 104 Mt. Vernon Rd, Bogata, Texas 75417.
