Mary Jo Bivins Vickers
Mary Jo Bivins Vickers, age 80, of Detroit, passed away August 12, 2008, at her residence.
She was born July 4, 1928, in Detroit, Texas, to Ather and Murmon Phillips
Bivins. She was preceded in death by: her parents; one brother, James Albert
Bivins; and one sister,
Jane Ward.
Mrs. Vickers was a Methodist and was retired from Detroit Independent School District.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Donald Vickers of Detroit; two sons, John Vickers and wife Earlene, Blossom, Texas, and Robert Vickers and wife Wilma, Detroit, Texas; three daughters, Donna Jo and husband Richard Jackson, Desoto, Texas, Sherry and Arthur Castleman, Reno, Texas, and Amanda Stugeon, Detroit; one sister, Vonnie Edwards, Conroe, Texas; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are scheduled for Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., at Bluff Cemetery with Benny Cogburn officiating and under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Pallbearers are: Aaron Jackson, Wyatt Vickers, John Castleman, Rush Vickers, Toby Dye, and Dewayne Tucker.
