James R. Faulkner, Sr., age 75, of Clarksville, Texas, passed away Monday, July 14, 2008, at East Texas Medical Center, Clarksville.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 18, 2008, at Lindeman Chapel in Clarksville Funeral Home. Pastor Cindy Baker and the Rev. Sam Rice will officiate. Burial will follow in Jamison Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.  Pallbearers will be grandsons and Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 45 and Clinton Evetts. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home. 

Mr. Faulkner was preceded in death this March by his wife of 56 years JoAnn Brust Faulkner; two sons, James Ray Faulkner, Jr. and John Edward Faulkner; one son-in-law, Jacky Smith; one brother, Harold Douglas Faulkner; and a grandson, Charles Edward Faulkner.

He was born May 29, 1933, in Clarksville, Texas, to Ocie and Nell Stringer Faulkner. Mr. Faulkner received metals for his service in both Korea and Vietnam as a member of the United States Marines. 

Mr. Faulkner is survived by: one son, Jerald and wife Cindy Faulkner, Paris, Texas; one daughter, Joan Faulkner Smith, Clarksville; daughter-in-law, Mary Faulkner of Sun Valley; three sisters, Ovela Huddleston, Clarksville, Ruby Nell and Phil Phillips, Mena, Arkansas, and Marie and Gerry Strickland, North Carolina; five brothers, Frank and Lorraine Faulkner, Clarksville, Charles and Joshlyn Faulkner, Massachusetts, Thomas Faulkner, Clarksville, Troy “Buddy” and Jane Faulkner, Clarksville, and Sammy and Neva Faulkner, Clarksville; seven grandsons, Anthony Faulkner, Jay Faulkner, Steven Faulkner, John Faulkner, Bradley Smith, Timothy Faulkner, and James Faulkner, III;  one granddaughter, Molliejean and Brent Beers; and ten great grandchildren, Zachary Faulkner, Trevor Faulkner, Garrit Faulkner, Madelynn Faulkner, Andrew McCollister, Kayla Beers, Crystal Faulkner, Dakota Faulkner, Kathryn  Faulkner and Laura Faulkner.

Mr. Faulkner was a member of the Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 45, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Dimple Community Club. He donated countless hours of service with the VFW Military Order of Cooties and RSVP.
