Hurshel Kelsoe Hurshel Kelsoe, age 78 of Avery, died Friday, June 27, 2008 in the Hospice of East Texas Hospital in Tyler. Mr. Kelsoe was born in Hooks on July 16, 1929 the son of James Austin and Mattie Annie King Kelsoe. He was a farmer and rancher and a member of the Avery United Methodist Church. His grandson, Dwight Kelsoe and a brother Joseph Kelsoe preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Effie Nicks Kelsoe. They were married on September 26, 1948; three sons, Edwin Kelsoe and wife Emma of Avery, Mike Kelsoe and wife Elaine of Avery, Trent Kelsoe and wife Lana of Avery; three sisters, Evonne Thompson of Powderly, Maureece Hall of Avery and Doris Cagle of Avery; one brother, Ralph Kelsoe of Avery; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Avery United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roddy Jackson and Rev. Gary McCain officiating. Visitation will be Monday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Mr. Kelsoe’s grandchildren; Justin, Randy, Earl, Wade, Kenneth and Rachel Kelsoe. Honorary Pallbearers are; Jerry Robinson, Marvin Burkett, Ross Lennon, Melvin Runyan and Anthony Phelps. Burial will follow in Avery Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
