James L. 'Sonny' Pryor
James L. “Sonny” Pryor, age 72 of Bogata, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Pryor was born on January 14, 1936 in Haskell the son of James Archie and Mary Fraley Pryor. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Helen Talley Pryor; grandson; Garrett Anthony Beers; step-mother, Mildred Glass Pryor. He was a member of the Bogata Missionary Baptist Church, served in the National Guard and retired after more than 40 years of service. Survivors included his wife, Shirley A. Pryor of Bogata; 3 daughters, Paula Swint and husband Fred of Fulbright, Kathy Stafford and husband Larry Joe of the Lone Star Community, Karen Beers and husband Mark of the Lone Star Community; step-daughter, Lori Franks of Bogata; 2 step-sons, Joe Hervey of Dallas and Butch Hervey of Clarksville; 5 sisters, Norma Brooks of Paris, Wanda Hanna of New Boston, Jerri Biggs of Longview, Jan Campbell of Dallas and Janet Kay Morrison of Cooper; 2 brothers, Eddie Pryor of Clarksville and Don Pryor of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, James Hall, Nikki Hall Miller, Callie Nichols, Jordan and Taylor Stafford, Ashley Hoskins and Lauren Beers; step-grandchildren, Amy Day, Clint and Kelsey Franks, Nichole Johnson, Jodi Helms; great-grandchildren, Emma Rae Hall, Griffin James Miller, Austin Nichols; step-great-grandchildren, Tanner and Kenley Day, Ashlin and Emma Johnson, Hunter and Hayden Helms, Madison and Carson Franks. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 24 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bogata Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Daniels and Rev. Don Shovan officiating. Visitation will be Friday night from 6 to 8 at Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are James Hall, Larry Joe Stafford, Mark Beers, Shane Miller, Fred Swint, Rickey Franks, Bronson Hoskins and Jackie Pace. Honorary Pallbearers are Bill Hill, Bill Simpson, Harold McLeroy, Glen Whitten, Billy Peek, Butch and Joe Hervey, and Runt Dill.
