Robert Allen “Slim” Hulen

Robert Allen “Slim” Hulen, age 87, of Clarksville, Texas, passed away Saturday, March 01, 2008, in Regency Nursing Center. He was born March 19, 1920, in the Aikin Grove                  Community in Red River County to Robert Clarence and Rena Moore Hulen. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Mary LaNell Whiteman Hulen, his second wife Ella Mae Hulen, and his brother John W. Hulen.

Services will be Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. in the McKenzie Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lew Stokes officiating. Burial will follow in Madras Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.  Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00 at the funeral home.

Mr. Hulen was a past Sheriff of Red River County, a retired Inspector with the Texas and Southwestern Cattleraisers Association and was a Commissioned Texas Ranger.  He had a lifelong interest in horses and cattle and the homeplace was recognized as a Texas Heritage Homestead.   He was a founding member of the Red River Wagonmasters and served in WWII as a Military Policeman. He was a long-time member of McKenzie Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one sister, Sally and Wayne Reed, Clarksville, several nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
