Obituary:
Verda Mars Prewitt Kellam, age 84, of Clarksville, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at Clarksville Nursing Center.

Verda was born October 14, 1927, in Red River County to Leonard B. and Lula Lay Prewitt. Verda was retired from the Red River National Bank and was active in her community and a very active member, along with her husband, Rev. A.B. Kellam of the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. She was also Treasurer of the New Haven Cemetery Association for over 50 years and was a member of the East Texas Medical Center’s Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. A.B. Kellam on January 10, 2008; a brother, Leonard “Sonny” Prewitt; and a sister, Marie Shook.

She is survived by three sons, Danny Kellam of Texarkana, Texas, Mike Kellam of Clarksville and Ronnie Kellam and wife Leta of Clarksville; a sister, Margaret Smith of Garland, Texas; brothers, Audie Prewitt of Mt. Pleasant, Texas and Howard Prewitt of Pittsburg, Texas; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2012, at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Kellam and Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial will follow in New Haven Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Russell Smith, Ricky Prewitt, Greg Prewitt, Chris Prewitt, Audie Prewitt, Jeremiah Kinsley, Jeff Kellam and Jared Kellam. Honorary Pallbearers are Deacons of the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.

Hey boys i hope yall remember me I took care of your mom at Dubuis Hospital. Your mom made me feel great about my job and the care that I gave to her. She is such a wonderful person and a complete joy!! You guys were great to.. To see yall up there taking care of her was truely wonderful and knowing fully yall did the same for her when she went home gave me such peace.....
